Porcelain crowns are the best way to restore a tooth that is damaged due to an injury or tooth decay. Porcelain crowns can also be used to cover up misshapen or severely stained teeth.

These crowns are crafted from strong, resilient porcelain. Because porcelain is very similar to tooth enamel in appearance, porcelain crowns look very natural, and are more aesthetically appealing than metal crowns made of gold or stainless steel. If you're considering a smile makeover in Robinson Township, porcelain is also non-porous, so it won’t stain like your natural teeth.

The process of creating and fitting a porcelain crown is quite simple and usually takes two appointments with your dentist in Robinson Township.

At your first appointment, pictures and impressions are taken of your teeth. This information is then sent to a lab, where a porcelain crown will be crafted to match the size, shape and color of your existing teeth.

Next, your teeth will be cleaned, and the tooth is prepared for crown application. Dr. Rupert, your dentist near Neville, PA will remove damaged or decayed tooth material, creating a strong surface to which the new crown will be bonded. Then, a temporary crown will be applied. Your permanent crown should be ready in about 2-3 weeks, and you’ll come back for a second appointment to have it placed.

Our dentist near 15136, Dr. Rupert will check your crown for fit, size, color, and shape. If it’s a perfect match, he will bond the crown into place with a dental adhesive, and the procedure is complete.

Porcelain crowns have a number of benefits, especially when compared to metal crowns.

Natural appearance and feel – Porcelain crowns are indistinguishable from a natural tooth. Your smile will look and feel completely natural.

Stain-resistant – Porcelain is non-porous and strong, and resists stains from all kinds of food and drink.

Very durable – Porcelain crowns can last 15+ years with proper care, and no special care is needed to keep it in great shape. Just brush and floss normally, and see Dr. Rupert for your 6-month teeth cleaning and oral exam!

Whether you’re in Moon, Crafton, or McDonald, Dr. Ryan Rupert is one of the best dentists for porcelain crowns. As a leading cosmetic dentist in Robinson Township, he can deliver amazing results.
